Top Dog Challenge

I'm fundraising for Scotland's animals.

I'm taking part in the Top Dog Challenge to help raise funds for Scotland's animals.

Our family adopted Buddy back in December 2019 just 3 weeks after he had lost his front paw.  We are taking part in Top Dog Challenge to show dogs with disabilities are not only an inspiration to their fellow dog friends but people as well.  We want to break down some barriers.

If you would like to show Buddy your support please donate to his challenge. #Tripawed #TopDogChallenge #ScottishSPCA

Buddy after he’s explored his new home!

Sunday 20th Jun
This was Buddy sound asleep in his new bed 30 minutes after he had explored his new home back in 2019!

What it’s meant to take part in this challenge

Sunday 20th Jun
As the challenge starts to conclude we wanted to just explain what it has meant to take part in this challenge.

As many of you know we adopted in December 2019 from Scottish SPCA. We had originally come to see one of their other dogs but when we met Bruno he soon let us know we weren’t  what he was looking for in a family.

The staff at the centre were so patient and offered to let us look at other dogs. As soon as we laid eyes on Buddy and called his name he responded to us, it really was love at first sight. Again the staff allowed us to be introduced to Buddy. He had only just had his leg amputated 3 weeks prior, his first scar was very visible but looked like it was healing perfectly. He had sustained some other small facial injuries but they too were on the mend. We took him for a wee walk around the centre, he was still a bit wobbly trying to balance on 2 legs whilst he peed but he was so determined. He was so relaxed with us all, and we all hoped from that point we would be allowed to give him his forever home.

The staff were outstanding, home inspections were organised, and we passed. The next step was to go back to get our beautiful Buddy boy and bring him home.

We were advised that once home he might be unsteady on the stairs as he hadn’t had to deal with them since he lost his leg. There was no such struggle, he bolted up the stairs and back down within seconds of being home.

We registered him with our vets who were very attentive to check over him and get acquainted with all the procedures he had been through in the last month.  This had consisted of front right leg amputation, he was neutered and had 3 teeth removed, all of which had been done and paid for by the Scottish SPCA.

Buddy has never looked back, he is such an inspiration not only to us as a family but people who met him.

We are so grateful to the Scottish SPCA for looking after Buddy in his hour of need and allowing us to adopt him.  For this reason we wanted to show our support and raise awareness of what a Tripawd can do.

Although Buddy has not managed to master the selfie challenge, he has mastered overcoming his disability in an exceptionally short period of time and we are so proud to call him our boy!
